Peter, originally named Simon, was a fisherman from Galilee who became one of Jesus Christ's closest disciples and one of the most prominent apostles in the early Church. Jesus gave him the name Peter, meaning “rock,” and entrusted him with a significant role among His followers. Peter was passionate, courageous, and deeply devoted to Jesus, though he also struggled with fear and impulsiveness, most famously denying Jesus three times before His crucifixion. After Christ's resurrection, Peter became a bold preacher of the Gospel and a foundational leader of the early Christian Church, faithfully proclaiming Christ despite persecution.
