Victor Fries, a brilliant scientist, seeks a cryogenic cure for his terminally ill wife, Nora. An accident during a robbery escape after a jewelry heist transforms Fries into Mr. Freeze, a being who requires subzero temperatures to survive and whose wife is frozen solid. The episode explores Fries' motivation, showing his desperate quest to save Nora, which leads him to confront Ferris Boyle, an executive he holds responsible for the accident. Batman finds himself in a dilemma, trying to prevent Mr. Freeze's revenge while dealing with the moral complexity of the situation.
