Richard Grayson, commonly referred to as Dick, was part of a headlining acrobat troup The Flying Graysons from Haly's Circus, consisting of himself and his parents Jonathan and Mary. But tragedy struck when his parents fell to there deaths as a result of a sabotaged trapeze committed by mobster Tony Zucco when the ringmaster refusing to pay for protection. Bruce Wayne, who was in attendance, took him in out of pity and revealed himself to be Batman, and trained Dick to be his firat sidekick, the first Robin. But after years of fighting with Batman, Dick moved to the city of Blüdhaven and became the crimefighter Nightwing, figthing alongside Batman not as a partner, but as an ally.
