Kate Kane is the cousin of Bruce Wayne She grew up as a military kid before joining herself She was in the military but was dishonorably discharged for going AWOL She moved back to Gotham after being disowned by her father When she was a child she her mother and her twin sister Beth were kidnapped Her mother was executed and Beth disappeared in the chaos as their father rescued them When she returned to Gotham she became a drunk party girl When she was mugged one day she quickly dispatched him just as Batman showed up She became inspired by this experience and used her military training to become a vigilante When her father finds out he forgives her and helps train and equip her
