Synopsis

Harrowing tensions explode in a series of events that could happen anywhere, to anyone, just as they do to John Moore—whose days of freedom run out, who is stripped of his possessions, his courage, and his hopes, one by one, by the ominous presence of an insidious stranger impossible to resist.

Description of Jim Caroll:

A local Harlowe citizen who takes Perly up on his offer to work as an officer. He quickly regrets this decision as Perly’s orders become increasingly deranged. He quits the force and refuses to donate anything further to the auctions. In an act of retribution, Perly sends Red Mudgett to tamper with Emily’s vehicle, which crashes and leaves her a paraplegic. Jim moves his family away, has to place Emily in assisted living, and comes back for one final showdown with Perly. Aged in his 40’s
