HBO Max Original Series
She was raised by Garth the Green himself. When the Long Night fell, she became the reason it ended. Set in the mythic Age of Heroes — the era of legend preceding recorded Westerosi history — The Age of Heroes follows Mira of the Reach, 22, a Black woman raised by Garth Greenhand, the legendary figure credited with bringing fertility and civilization to the Reach. In the Descendants universe's interpretation, Garth found Mira as an infant and raised her as a daughter, teaching her the green arts — the ability to commune with growing things, to know the land's health, to speak to the Old Gods through the weirwood network. She is entirely of the Andal-precursor world: she speaks the Old Tongue, knows the First Men's customs, participates in their religious practices around the Heart Trees. When the Long Night begins and the White Walkers move south, Mira's green gifts — her ability to wake the sleeping earth itself — become the land's most significant defense. Her connection to Elan, a First Men warrior of extraordinary valor from the northern forests, is the series' central romance: two people bound by the same cause across the world's most desperate winter. Note: the series treats the Age of Heroes with deliberate mythic atmosphere — not realism, but the heightened, elemental quality of legend made intimate. S1E1 — The Green Earth Mira in the Reach before the Long Night — its fullness, its warmth. The first cold arrives. She feels it in the roots before anyone else does. S1E6 — The Long Night The darkness descends completely. Elan arrives from the north with the last survivors of three northern clans. S2E10 — The Dawn The Long Night's end. Mira's gift, spent entirely, brings the first dawn. What it costs her and what it gives her are the finale's subject.
