Set in the early to mid 2020's, the film follows the four titular turtles as New York's defenders as they clean up the city streets with the help of their ally/friend detective April O'Neil. They share both a professional and personal relationship, where they help her stop criminals that can't be touched by the law in return for her turning a blind eye to their activities.
