Shortly after being born, a princess is kidnapped by the witch Gothel, who raises her as her own daughter, but keeps her locked away in a high, doorless tower to take advantage of the magical properties of her hair. When she is about to turn sixteen, the girl asks her “mother” for permission to see the world. She is denied permission: it is dangerous outside. But by chance, Flynn, a handsome thief on the run from justice, comes to the tower.
