Description of Sybil Ludington:
At age 16 she was the eldest 12 children who was an unsung hero of the American Revolution in New York. She first saved her father from capture, then rode 40 miles (twice the length rode by Paul Revere) to rally the soldiers and warn them of the approaching British.
