5-years after the events of the first film, the creature simply known as Swamp Thing continues to both roam and defend the swamp where he resides. However, a friend turned enemy from his past life as Alec Holland reemerges as the terror known as Floronic Man attacks those he cares about as revenge for him becoming what he is now. So, it's up to Swamp Thing to stop this being once and for all.
