In a secret facility located in the Louisiana swamp, Scientist Alec Holland and his wife Abigail invented a serum that could solve any nation’s food shortage problems. Two thugs working under Nathan Ellery barged in and planted a bomb in the facility. When Holland woke up, the bomb was just about to explode, so he fled into the swamp, where his body got drenched in the bio-restorative formula, causing the local plants to engulf him and turn him into The Swamp Thing.
