After receiving a fatal overdose of solar radiation from Lex Luthor, the Man of Steel decides to fulfill his lifelong dreams before flying into the sun to save it from poisoning by the tyrant star Solaris, repairing it from within. However, while Superman grapples with the moral weight that comes with this decision — including burdening Lois Lane with the task of siring a Second Superman — Luthor gets ahold of these plans, and acquires the help of Braniac to ensure they never see the light of day.
