Since learning Superman's identity, Batman decides to pay Metropolis a visit, but after finding out the Joker has gone to Metropolis. Learning that Joker has some how gotten his hands on kryptonite, he investigates into this. While confronting a criminal mob boss in Metropolis, he runs into Superman and they have a short confrontation. Superman soon learns Batman's identity and finds out that Lex Luthor has teamed up with the Joker and is creating a clone of himself to rid Metropolis of him.
