After reaching the White House, Lois engages Mercy in a fight. Mercy has received enhancements from Luthor, and Lois' powers are fading, putting them both on an equal field. Lois tries to reach Mercy, and begs her to see what Lex is, what he's become. Mercy feels she owes everything to Lex; he pulled her out of poverty, and made her the woman she is today. She loves him. But, while she won't turn against Lex, she backs down from fighting Lois. She knows Lex isn't the same man he was when she met him. She knows he doesn't care for her as much as she cares for him.
