Fan Casting Sylvia Rivera in Stonewall

Sylvia Rivera is a teenage firebrand who transforms the trauma of the streets into a relentless, lifetime crusade for liberation. At just 17, Sylvia is already a veteran of survival, navigating New York City as a homeless sex worker. While history sometimes tries to soften her, Sylvia is an uncompromised radical who famously threw the second Molotov cocktail at the police during the initial Stonewall raid. For six consecutive nights, she refuses to sleep, treating the uprising as the true dawn of a revolution. Alongside her chosen mother figure, Marsha P. Johnson, Sylvia becomes the unapologetic defender of the most vulnerable queer people of color, ultimately co-founding S.T.A.R. to give unhoused street youth the shelter the rest of the world denied them.
