Fan Casting Ed Murphy in Stonewall

Ed "Skull" Murphy is the predatory enforcer of Christopher Street, masking his brutal mob control as a twisted form of maternal care. A former professional wrestler and WWII veteran, Murphy guards the door of the Stonewall Inn for the Genovese crime family while running a high-stakes blackmail ring against wealthy, closeted patrons. He also dominates the local street economy; ironically nicknamed "Mother" Murphy, he feeds and shelters desperate, unhoused runaways only to systematically pimp them out for a cut of their sex work. Protected by an untouchable narrative shield—including rumored extortion photos of FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover—Murphy is the film's apex predator. He directly threatens Marsha and Sylvia by entrapping the street youth they try to protect, while hunting for the true identity of middle-class professionals like Evelyn to bleed them dry.
