Plot Summary The Stolen Plans: Princess Leia of the Rebel Alliance obtains secret plans to the Death Star, an imperial space station capable of destroying planets. The Droids on Tatooine: Cornered by Darth Vader, Leia hides the plans inside the droid R2-D2, who escapes to the desert planet Tatooine alongside C-3PO. Meeting Obi-Wan: The droids are bought by Luke Skywalker's uncle. Luke discovers a hidden holographic message from Leia pleading for help from Obi-Wan Kenobi. Call to Adventure: Imperial stormtroopers trace the droids and kill Luke's aunt and uncle. Left with nothing, Luke teams up with Obi-Wan, a Jedi Master who introduces him to the mystical energy field known as the Force. The Rescue Mission: In the spaceport of Mos Eisley, they hire the smuggler Han Solo and his Wookiee co-pilot Chewbacca, piloting the Millennium Falcon. They infiltrate the Death Star to rescue Princess Leia. The Sacrifice: During their escape, Obi-Wan sacrifices his life in a lightsaber duel against Darth Vader. The Final Battle: Using data from R2-D2, the Rebel Alliance attacks the Death Star. Guided by the voice of Obi-Wan, Luke uses the Force to fire a precise proton torpedo shot into the station's thermal exhaust port, destroying it just in time.
