Per crucem ad lucem, ad vincendos spiritus in tenebris
At the rugged, swept hills of the English countryside near London, a fictional boarding school of St. Archon's for co-educational mixed race pupil, operated itself as a traditional, strict seven-year secondary tracking system (ages 13 to 19). The academic calendar runs from early September to mid July, broken into three terms: Michaelmas (Autumn), Lent (Spring), and Summer. As the British Empire prepares to hand Hong Kong back to China in 1997, which marked 100th anniversary of its founding on 1 July 1897, St. Archon’s sees an influx of ultra-wealthy legacy heirs from East Asia and from around the world alongside brilliant, working-class British scholarship students. The school demands total perfection to win the coveted Archon Sovereign Medallion at the end-of-year Speech Day ceremony. The rigid discipline of St. Archons are completely enforced isn't just for academic integrity, it is part of an ancient ritual designed to keep a malevolent, psychological force ("The Darkness") at bay, where the motto says “Per crucem ad lucem, ad vincendos spiritus in tenebris” (Through the cross to the light, to conquer the spirits in darkness).
