Spider-Man: Back in Black

Shortly after the events of Avengers: Secret Wars, Peter Parker returns to New York wearing a mysterious black suit he acquired on Battleworld. Believing it to be advanced alien technology, Peter embraces its incredible abilities as he investigates an escalating gang war between the Maggia, Tombstone, and the mysterious Mr. Negative and his Inner Demons. While working with the Daily Bugle and volunteering at FEAST, Peter grows closer to the reckless Felicia Hardy, who encourages him to embrace the freedom and excitement of being Spider-Man. However, the black suit begins amplifying Peter's anger, jealousy, and darker impulses. As Peter becomes increasingly violent, his behavior attracts the attention of Daredevil, who realizes that something unnatural is influencing him. Meanwhile, Robbie Robertson investigates Tombstone, Eddie Brock pursues the biggest story of his career, and the criminal war pushes New York toward total chaos. When the gang leaders' attempt to negotiate peace erupts into a massive battle, Peter is pushed to his darkest point. With Eddie and Ned captured, the symbiote encourages Peter to let Eddie die, exploiting Peter's resentment and jealousy toward the man now dating MJ. Instead, Peter chooses compassion and saves them both, proving that his humanity is stronger than the suit's influence. After the gang war ends, Peter rejects Felicia's offer to abandon his responsibilities and realizes just how close he came to becoming someone he could no longer recognize. Seeking answers, Peter brings the mysterious suit to Reed Richards, expecting him to identify its advanced technology. Reed's examination reveals a horrifying truth: the black suit isn't technology at all. It's a living biological organism—a symbiote that has bonded with Peter.
