Luigi is a fictional character featured in video games and related media released by Nintendo. Created by prominent game designer Shigeru Miyamoto, Luigi is portrayed as the slightly younger but taller fraternal twin brother of Nintendo's mascot Mario, and appears in many games throughout the Mario franchise, often as a sidekick to his older brother.
The storyline is set in a parallel universe within the Sonic' Multiverse, where Sonic has become a tyrant and established a new world order after Dr. Eggman tricked him into killing Sally Acorn and destroying Green Hills. In an effort to stop this, Knuckles summons counterparts of the freedom fighters's members from the main universe to join his insurgency and end the totalitarian regime.
