Synopsis

*Based on Sonic Chaos and Sonic Triple Trouble, particularly the 16-bit fan remake* After the Events of Sonic and Knuckles, Sonic, Tails and Uncle Chuck fly back down to South Island. On south Island, they detect a chaos emerald! But, Dr. Robotnik has also sensed the same emerald. Sonic and the others have to find and take possession of this fourth emerald before Dr. Robotnik does. Dr. Robotnik is trying to use the Emerald to power up an old creation of his... Metal Sonic. To make sure that Sonic doesn't stop him, he has hired a clever bounty hunter, Fang.

Description of Knuckles the Echidna (Metal Sonic in Disguise):

To distract Sonic, or test the upgrades from the Emerald, Sonic used a hologram to turn himself into Knuckles, copying his abilities and skillset recorded from a camera Robotnik had on Angel Island. At first, Sonic and Tails thought the real Knuckles was here, and were confused on why he's not on Angel Island. But when they started to notice how he runs, how he acts, and after a rock fell on him, they see that it was Metal pretending to be Knuckles! (FYI, he runs like Earl from Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs)
