story provides two narrators. One, the secret writing of Alesia, a painter who is so madly in love with her husband, a fashion photographer whose main muse tended towards sickly thin models at "unflattering" angles, according to our narrator two, Theo. Theo is a psychotherapist who becomes frighteningly interested in his main patient, Alesia, to a most perverse manner. He specifically targets Alesia after hearing her story. A woman gone mad, she tied up her husband, shot him square in the face, and then slit her wrists in an attempt to kill herself. She is hospitalized and tried, though she refuses to speak. Not one word. No confession of guilt or expression of innocence. Completely unphased, withdrawn. Theo aims to crack the code of this empty shell of an artist, and find out what switched in her.
