Shadow the Hedgehog is the "Ultimate Life Form," created by Professor Gerald Robotnik 50 years ago on the Space Colony ARK to cure his granddaughter, Maria, of a terminal illness. After GUN soldiers killed Maria during a raid, a grief-stricken Shadow was sealed away, only to awaken with amnesia. Shadow battles alien invaders (Black Arms) while recovering memories, ultimately rejecting his dark past to forge his own destiny as an independent anti-hero.
