Synopsis

Fourteen-year-old Lain Iwakura gets an unsettling email from a classmate who recently died by suicide. Despite her lack of tech skills, she enters the Wired, a virtual network like the internet. Encountering mysterious challenges, she's pursued by Men in Black who know more about her than she does. Reality and cyberspace merge as Lain faces surreal events exploring identity and perception.

Description of Alice Mizuki:

Lain's classmate and only true friend throughout the series. She is very sincere and has no discernible quirks. She is the first to attempt to help Lain socialize; she takes her out to a nightclub. From then on, she tries her best to look after Lain. Alice, along with her two best friends Julie and Reika, were taken by Chiaki Konaka from his previous work, Alice in Cyberland.
