Following the alien revelations in S.H.I.E.L.D., Clint Barton becomes Earth's lead operative tasked with tracking the invisible threat. Alongside Matt Murdock, Hawkeye launches an investigation, interrogating the Avengers, X-Men, and Fantastic Four to root out hidden infiltrators. Anchoring Clint through this is his long-time partner, Bobbi Morse - Mockingbird. Clint relies heavily on Bobbi's elite tactical intellect as they navigate the global deceit. At the same time, the world's greatest minds - Tony Stark, Bruce Banner, Professor X, Hank McCoy, Reed Richards, and Hanky Pym - unite in a secret bunker, dissecting the dead Elektra's Skrull's biology to engineer a tracking method. The investigation peaks as Clint and Bobbi analyze their evidence in a safehouse. Mid-conversation, Bobbi makes an uncharacteristic, logical error, murmuring, "Fury is going to be obsessed, we cannot take this to him." Clint's instincts freeze. Realizing this is not Bobbi, he swings his bow and fires a point-blank arrow. She catches the arrow. They then have a fight in the safehouse. Though the imposter possesses Bobbi's physicality, she cannot match Bobbi's precise combat training. Clint overpowers and kills her, watching in agony as the false corpse of his lover bleeds out and reverts to its Skrull form. The tragedy immediately scales into a global nightmare. A breaking news broadcast interrupts the airwaves. President Theodore Kilgore addresses the nation, delivering a declaration to the cameras: "This world is ours." The Skrulls reveal they have infiltrated every world government. We get a post credits scene where the real Captain America wakes up groggy in a alien containment facility. Looking through the stasis cells, his jaw drops when he recognizes the real Sue Storm, Elektra, and Mockingbird trapped alongside countless other obscured global figures. Cut to black.
