Scott Pilgrim, a slacker and part-time musician living in Toronto who plays bass in a band, is dating a high school student while recovering from a traumatic breakup. He begins a tentative romance with Ramona Flowers, an American delivery girl, and soon discovers that Ramona has superpowers. It turns out that her seven supervillain ex-boyfriends have similar abilities. They are manipulated into attacking Scott in combat by her most recent ex, Gideon Graves, forcing both Scott and Ramona to confront their respective pasts, relationships, and behaviors.
