Fan Casting Katherine Mercer in Saturday Detention

She has spent much of her career in school administration, earning a reputation as an uncompromising disciplinarian. She believes consistency and consequences are essential to maintaining a functioning school. Over the years, however, her commitment to order has hardened into an unwillingness to acknowledge circumstances that complicate her rules. She views the five students as a concentrated example of everything wrong with the school's culture: defiance, privilege, aggression, rule-breaking, and disengagement. Their conversations challenge her assumption that every disciplinary problem can be solved by enforcing compliance.
