When Miles’s mother sacrifices herself to stop Mister Negative, tragedy reshapes his purpose. Spider-Man 5 is set a year later, where Uncle Aaron returns as the Prowler, forced by the Vulture to hunt Spider-Man, leading to devastating loss and Miles’s retirement. In Spider-Man 6, Kingsley and the Jackal unleash the Tarantula—Miles’s corrupted best friend Ganke—to force Peter and Miles into a final battle. Peter sacrifices himself saving both boys, passing the mantle to Miles.
