Synopsis

In 1964, secret spy agent Race Bannon is sent to protect the Quest family, consisting of scientist researcher Benton Quest and his son Jonny. When Benton's old friend returns for revenge, Jonny must assemble a team to prevent Dr. Zin from conquering the world.

  • tuenguyen I remember talking to Fred Dekker about this. Fred was set to direct it after Monster Squad, but it flopped which chances of Dekker doing JQ were slim. So years later when Richard Donner along his wife Lauren Shuler were set to produce a JQ film in the 90s with Turner Pictures - Fred asked both if he could write the script, they agreed to it. A script was realized as when the choice for a director was coming up - that was when Amy Pascal would suggest Chris Columbus (who wrote The Goonies which was directed by Donner) to direct Dekker's script. I recall according to someone who I can't recall which Donner said he liked the script when it reached to someone at WB, they didn't liked it. That was the end of it or whatever could be the reason. I read that script dated in 1995, it was an absolute fun blast - I remember when I had the script first, I tried reading without being aware of the cartoon. But I had to stop to rethink that I should watch the original show - so I did watched all 26 episodes and then read the script, which I found it to be a extremely fun blast for a read. My personal favorite Fred Dekker script for damn sure!
