2004. Six years after the destruction of Raccoon City and following rigorous training under Major Jack Krauser, Leon Scott Kennedy has become an agent serving the American President. Following the kidnapping of Ashley Graham, the latter's daughter, Leon is sent to a rural village on the border between Spain and Portugal to rescue her, with the remote assistance of Ingrid Hunnigan. Shortly after arriving, however, Leon and his escort are attacked by the villagers, who seem to have lost their will and are behaving like zombies. The two escorting agents are brutally murdered, leaving Leon alone to carry out the mission.
