Rita was an officer of the Raccoon City Police Department. She was under the command of Lieutenant Marvin Branagh, and she admired him. Rita climbed through the station's long-forgotten vent shaft, she was the only person small enough to move through the vent system. Rita escaped the police station, and returned with fellow officer Harry, but another attack left most of the remaining officers dead, and Branagh, had to be left behind as he was mortally wounded and acted as the buffer between the infected and the survivors as they escaped.
