Story Plot

Pyro: Child of Rage is a 2026 American psychological thriller film written and directed by Patty Jenkins and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and Gore Verbinski from a story by M. Night Shyamalan and Verbinski. The sequel to Pyro, it stars Sasha Calle in the title role, alongside Kiersey Clemons, Michael Shannon, Aldis Hodge, and Uma Thurman. Two years after the first film, Brittany Houston and her new girlfriend Amy Willis must defend themselves against the new commissioner of New York Police Department , who is also Amy's brother, after he provokes Brittany over her "crimes" against her late father. Pyro: Child of Rage was released on December 20th, 2026; it received widespread acclaim for its visual effects and the performances of Calle and Clemons, with many deeming it as equal to the first film. The film grossed over $915 million worldwide against a break-even point of $260 million. A sequel is currently in production.

    Plot: One year after her father's death, an improving but also post-traumatic Brittany Houston is living a more peaceful life. She has also begun a relationship with Amy Willis, who knows everything about her past and suffers from Bipolar Disorder. Meanwhile, Harrison, the new commissioner of New York City and Amy's older brother, is interviewed about what he knows from Brittany's past; when he answers those questions, he openly mocks Brittany over her mental health problems and her anger. Unfortunately, Brittany and Amy are both watching the interview on TV, and the former loses her temper and begins burning a tree to regain control.

    After visiting her mother Carrie in the hospital to seek advice, Brittany is then followed by Harrison, who easily overpowers her when she instead chooses to use her fists and not her powers to defend herself. Before Harrison can arrest Brittany, Bryan Wilson knocks him unconscious and once again resigns as a cop by dropping his badge and driving Brittany back to safety. A few days later, Brittany decides to defend herself from the cops, and Amy agrees to help, as does Bryan, but Carrie begs her to run instead of fight; Brittany refuses, stating that she has no choice. Brittany attacks several police checkpoints, but cannot bring herself to kill the cops, as most of them are aware that she is innocent; in return for sparing them, they let her go, still accepting that she did nothing wrong. She then shoves a fireball down Harrison's throat, giving him three days to reconsider his decision and call the pursuit off, but also states that it will kill him regardless of the choice he makes. He then retaliates by sending the more corrupt officers after her, and she smiles, complimenting that she thought "today was gonna be boring." She massacres the squad with her powers and then uses a member's radio to publicly threaten Harrison.

    Enraged and frightened, he orders SWAT teams and officers loyal to him to hunt Brittany and kill her by any means necessary. When they ambush Brittany, she overpowers them in a new pyrokinetic form, but ultimately spares the SWAT teams, as they are only following orders and partially because Amy begged her not to kill them.

    An extremely fire-veined Harrison is shown a video of Brittany's father admitting to have been responsible for who she became, and he calls of the pursuit out of remorse. Knowing that the more corrupt officers will refuse to let her go, he resigns as commissioner and eventually finds and saves both Brittany and Amy after they are attacked again; he apologizes to Brittany for his mockery of her personality, saying "I hope you can forgive me, kid. Even when my death occurs tomorrow." She also apologizes, stating that she did not have to take matters into her own hands despite having to defend herself. She regretfully reveals to him that on the day his death will occur, he will lose consciousness and the fireball implanted in his body will take control and attack anyone on sight.

    Bryan finds the trio and helps them evade the cops, before he distracts them in order for the three to escape, but at the cost of own life. Harrison prepares a final stand for himself and the cops, intending to sacrifice himself in redemption for his mistakes. However, he transforms into a pyrokinetic while Brittany and Amy hide where he cannot find them. Horrified by his impending attacks on the invading cops, she ends up using her own powers to overclock Harrison's implanted fireball, before she is knocked unconscious by him. A wounded Amy carries Brittany out of the building they entered, while Harrison explodes due to the overclocked fireball, destroying both the building and the invading cops. Brittany and Amy are taken to the hospital, where they are reunited with Carrie, who reconciles with Brittany and assures Amy that she loves her.

    A few weeks later, Brittany and Amy visit Bryan's grave, and thank him for saving their lives; both of them acknowledge that there will be days when they are once again wronged by police officers, with Brittany saying "Let them at us.", just before the end credits roll.
