Catherine Connolly is the 10th President of Ireland. When Connolly became the first Irish President to visit Barbados while in office in either late 2026 or early 2027 to meet the Barbadian President Jeffrey Bostic who serve as heads of state for their respective republics, following their elections in late 2025. Barbados has historically been nicknamed "Little England" due to its deeply ingrained British colonial infrastructure, architecture, and legal systems, after the declaration of the new republic on 30 November 2021, it will replace a new nickname to "Little Ireland" to become part of multicultural, Afro-Irish citizens to embrace dual heritage with pride. In Ireland's modern, diverse landscape, citizenship is proudly held by children of mixed heritage, uniting the histories of both capitals between Dublin and Bridgetown.
