The perfect target was a modest 1997 video film, which surprisingly foreshadowed the rise of authoritarian populism in emerging countries in the first 15 years of the 21st century. This is an adaptation that tries to preserve the essence of the original. David Benson is hired to serve the security of a Central American country. There he soon discovers that corruption is the rule of the dictatorship and that he has been hired only to be used as a scapegoat while the female president and his henchmen profit from her crimes. He must flee and ends up joining the resistance that tries to overthrow the tyranny.read more

Description of David Benson:

Former marine, he is contacted by an old superior, Major Stockwell to collaborate in the security of the small country of Santa Coloma. He does not know anything about that place and when he arrives he joins the internal security body of the woman who has been at the forefront of the country for 10 years, Cristina F. Kolberg (aka CFK) when her father who preceded her as dictator died in a plane crash. He will soon discover that the regime hired him for the sole purpose of holding him accountable for the deaths of opponents and accomplices who fell out of favor for dirty money. When that happens, he flees with his companion on duty to the jungle.
