Somewhere in the Mario Bros. multiverse, several years after the plumbers first left their world behind, a mysterious figure in a purple cloak kidnaps them as collateral in his quest to become the most powerful being in the universe. Forced into a hard situation, a more no-nonsense Princess Peach goes seeking the help of the only one strong enough to take the enigmatic Purple Cloak Man down: King Bowser Koopa. This odd couple must learn to put aside its differences and scour dimension upon dimension to save not only Mario and Luigi but the entire universe as we know it!
