In the 1540s town of Bingsy, Maxwell is known as “Mr. Nice Guy” — a beloved artist with a wife, kids, and a dog, living a peaceful life. But after he witnesses the tragic accidental death of his child, something breaks in him. He becomes obsessed with the fear of being forgotten, realizing that death is permanent and that the way a person leaves the world is all that matters. Driven by the need to be remembered, Maxwell throws himself into painting and sculpting with total obsession, pushing away everyone he loves. His wife, friends, and children beg him to stop and tell him his legacy will live on, but he refuses. He keeps creating until he leaves town to build what will later be known as Stonehenge. When he returns, Bingsy is gone — the houses are gone, the town is empty and dusty, and only faint traces of his old life remain.
