Operation Anthropoid was the codename for a paratroop drop sent from Great Britain to the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia during World War II. It consisted of soldiers of the Czechoslovak Army in Exile, Jozef Gabčík and Jan Kubiš. It was a diversionary operation that took place between December 1941 and June 1942. Its main objective was to liquidate the acting Reich Protector Reinhard Heydrich. The attack took place on 27 May 1942 and was successful; Heydrich died of its effects on 4 June 1942.
