Natasha is a beautiful countess visiting Moscow while she waits for her fiancée Andrey to return from war. In a moment of indiscretion, she is seduced by the dashing (but already married) Anatole and her position in society is ruined. Her only hope lies with Pierre, the lonely outsider in search of meaning in his life. Surrounded by an eccentric cast of characters, both Natasha and Pierre go on emotional journeys of life and love.
