After spending her summer case free, Nancy is called to New York, alongside Bess, to investigate threats that Soap Opera Star, Rick Arlen, have been receiving. As Nancy and Bess investigate (having to be cast as extras to investigate) they learn just how much Rick is in danger from a set lamp nearly landing on him and a bomb being placed in his dressing room. They also learn how much everyone has motivation for threatening Rick from Papas not wanting him to back from his contract, Lillian and Mattie being his exes, Millie think he's his character from the show, and Dwayne thinking Rick doesn't have any talent. But at the end of it, help comes from an unlikely source...
