In May 1998, Nancy heads to Florida to investigate the murder of a student, Jake Rogers, at Paseo Del Mar High School. As Nancy goes undercover at the school, she soon learns how Jake was very unpopular with both the staff AND students due to always getting into trouble and blackmailing his classmates, making anyone a suspect. While investigating, Nancy discovers clues that Jake left behind in case something happen to him that would lead to his stash of blackmail. After narrowly fixing and escaping a boiler rigged to explode, Nancy discovers Jake's stash of Blackmail tapes and learns that Hal plagiarized a paper, Connie entered a boys only Judo Contest in disguise, that Hector broke into a pharmacy to steal steroid, and the identity of Jake's killer...
