Set a few years before Bakumatsu: Reimeiroku. Tells the story of Kyō Narukami, a violent young man honing his sword skills in his quest to find stronger people to fight. Due to his skills and prowess, he is known as the white wolf and is feared by many of the rōnins who tried to challenge him. It wasn't after he became an assassination target of a mysterious group known as the Shadow Ninja clan due to a certain mysterious individual seeing him as a threat. Description of Kyō Narukami (Main Protagonist ):

Born to the Narukami family. A laid-back individual with a calm and collected personality, but is actually temperamental and prone to rage. He is fond of fighting and has a tendency to pick fights for petty reasons. He's extremely competitive, and will take on any and all challengers. On top of that, he seeks strength and taking on fights with anyone else he deems strong enough. One thing to beware of is his rage, as he will kill anything in sight when he's pushed to the limit. His fighting skills earns him the nickname "white wolf". In spite of his faults, he is shown to have a bit of a heroic streak; he often helps others out, and is always willing to give out friendly advice if needed.

theonewithda_gun More about the character: Kyō's style of swordfighting is the Narukami style kenjutsu, but his version is unorthodox and ostensibly developed by himself - taking bits and pieces from all forms of martial arts and making up the rest on-the-go as he fights his opponents, make him generally unpredictable in a fight and a force to be reckoned with.

- theonewithda_gun He carries a uniquely crafted sword. It appears to be a standard katana, with it's tsuba decorated with "fangs" that came out of the left and right sides.The sheath is black in color and has a decoration of white flames and at its final tip is adorned by a crimson rhomboid crystal, and a series of "fangs" that hold it attached to the handle of the sword and can be opened to allow Kyō to draw the blade. But it has a special mechanism, in that only the owner of the sword can draw the blade from the shirasaya and anybody other than the original wielder of the sword himself won't be able to unsheath it. There's a trigger on the handle that only the owner of the sword can activate. When activated, the fangs holding both the shirasaya and tsuba are opened and the wielder is able to draw the sword from its sheath, this is the quickest way of drawing the sword without opening the fangs using his hand. In addition, a red bow is wrapped around the sheath.

- theonewithda_gun Kyō's fighting style is unpredictable, which makes it harder for opponents to counter. Senryō praises this, however he notes that Kyō's skill level is lacking as a result. This is also noted by Kyō's father, saying that his son's Narukami style kenjutsu is lacking. However, Kyō has a knack of learning things very quickly, once he sees his opponent doing a move he will try to incorporate it to his fighting style.

- theonewithda_gun Although he has somewhat of a rude personality, he's actually a very loving older brother to his younger siblings. Particularly, his younger brother Josuke. If somebody close to him is in danger, he is more than ever will risk his own life to protect them. Nevertheless, as the series progresses, he began to redeem himself of his rude personality.

theonewithda_gun Kyō was born to the Narukami family. He was a problem child due to growing up near a lawless and often violent environment of Edo. His only friend at the time was Tadayoshi, but even though Tadayoshi is a bit older than him, he was often got pciked on and made fun of by Kyō due to being weak. His father ran a kenjutsu dojo and train several children in Narukami style swordsmanship. However, due to Kyō having a weak stamina and body condition, he was never able to join the other children in their training sessions. However, Kyō learned a number of techniques after watching the training session and seeing his father, who was training by himself even when everyone else left.

However, tired of how his father always looking down upon him, he left home and began wandering around town, picking fights and sometimes drinking at taverns. He began to develop his own version of Narukami ryuu kenjutsu in order to distance himself from his family, as he thought that they don't care about him anymore. Thus, he began his quest to seek strength and find the strongest people he can fight.
