The plot of this story is inspired by a certain old British shanty. A young woman named Sally Grey is preparing to marry her sweetheart-a young sailor named William Taylor. It is the happiest day of their lives for both of them, but is interrupted by William's unexpected call to military service by the press gang. Not wanting to be left alone, Sally decides to dress up in men's clothing. She manages to get on the same deck her fiancé is enlisted on.
