A Classic Hercule Poirot Mystery
Set at the isolated archaeological dig site of Tell Yarimjah in Iraq, the story centers on a tense, claustrophobic expedition team. The renowned archaeologist Dr. Eric Leidner brings in a no-nonsense British nurse, Amy Leatheran, to care for his beautiful but highly neurotic wife, Louise. Louise is terrified. She is convinced that her first husband—a young German spy who supposedly died in a train crash years ago—is actually alive and stalking her, having recently sent her a series of threatening letters. The expedition compound is heavily guarded, surrounded by a high wall, and everyone's movements are constantly observed. Despite this closed environment, Louise is found brutally murdered in her bedroom, struck down by an antique artifact. With only one entrance to her room and a barred window, the killer must be one of the expedition members. Hercule Poirot, who happens to be traveling through the region, is brought in to unravel the deep-seated rivalries, secret romances, and hidden identities within the team.
