For the record, the character is named "Eddie" instead of "Edward Prendick" to encourage variety in casting. A new comic adaptation of Moreau I once read had a female main character, and some adaptations changed the character to an American. So cast whoever you like. If they sound like an Eddie, then they can play Eddie.
