Synopsis

Seventeen-year-old Cassia Reyes lives an ordinary life in the Society, a picture-perfect civilization where your occupation, your spouse, and even the day of your death are all chosen by the infallible Officials. On the day of her "Matched Banquet," Cassia's joy increases exponentially when Xander Carrow, her childhood friend, is selected as her husband. But when a glitch occurs in the system, entering a second boy into her datafiles, Cassia begins to wonder...is the Society as wise as she has grown up believing? Follow Cassia as she fights to understand the evils that her government hides under its guise of altruism, led to the truth by people who risk their lives to show her a glimpse of what real knowledge, real love, and real choice could look like. Description of Xander Carrow:

Xander is a perfect student and a perfect friend: intelligent, attractive, loyal and kind. So when he gets Matched to his best friend, Cassia, they are both overjoyed. Their relationship may not be all that he thinks, however. When he discovers that the girl of his dreams has fallen in love with fellow student Ky Markham, he is overcome with confusion and hurt. A faithful friend to the last, however, he supplies Cassia with lifesaving provisions and encouraging notes for her journey in search of Ky, holding onto the hope that she will someday choose him again.
