Synopsis

Seventeen-year-old Cassia Reyes lives an ordinary life in the Society, a picture-perfect civilization where your occupation, your spouse, and even the day of your death are all chosen by the infallible Officials. On the day of her "Matched Banquet," Cassia's joy increases exponentially when Xander Carrow, her childhood friend, is selected as her husband. But when a glitch occurs in the system, entering a second boy into her datafiles, Cassia begins to wonder...is the Society as wise as she has grown up believing? Follow Cassia as she fights to understand the evils that her government hides under its guise of altruism, led to the truth by people who risk their lives to show her a glimpse of what real knowledge, real love, and real choice could look like. Description of Ky Markham:

Ky is an Aberration. This means that his father committed an Infraction, an offense so great that it strips the entire family of Citizenship and all the privileges that come with it. Among other penalties, his social status entails exclusion from the Matching pool...so when the Officials tell him of a mistake by which his face appeared on Cassia Reyes' screen, he can't believe it. As he gets to know Cassia better he reveals the tragedies of his past life in the Outer Provinces, including the deaths of his biological parents. When she falls as deeply in love with him as he is with her, he almost believes everything can be made right. But the Society has other plans....
