Synopsis

Seventeen-year-old Cassia Reyes lives an ordinary life in the Society, a picture-perfect civilization where your occupation, your spouse, and even the day of your death are all chosen by the infallible Officials. On the day of her "Matched Banquet," Cassia's joy increases exponentially when Xander Carrow, her childhood friend, is selected as her husband. But when a glitch occurs in the system, entering a second boy into her datafiles, Cassia begins to wonder...is the Society as wise as she has grown up believing? Follow Cassia as she fights to understand the evils that her government hides under its guise of altruism, led to the truth by people who risk their lives to show her a glimpse of what real knowledge, real love, and real choice could look like. Description of Indie Holt:

Indie is an fierce yet elusive girl who meets Cassia when the two are assigned to a work detail in one of the Western Provinces. An Aberration, Indie is unexpectedly arrested and sent to the Outer Provinces as a live decoy to lure Enemy forces. When Cassia sneaks along, hoping to find Ky in the wilderness, the two form an alliance, fleeing into the same series of canyons that Ky and Vick entered days before. Indie, however, has a burning desire for something more: she hopes to find the Rising, a rebel group living in the wild and plotting the overthrow of the Society.
