She serves as an non antagonist who tries to arrest steve rogers for helping innocent people. After the final battle, she arrives at the scene of disaster, and tells nick fury to do something about it, but he refuses to do so, and that's when she snaps. Maria points her gun at him, ordering fury to arrest them, captain arrives to stop her, but to maria's mistake, the bullet accidentally hits cap instead. Maria's eyes widen in shock and devastation, for the first time, she's killed a true hero who helped her from many years. She resigns from shield, and both fury and coulson recommends her to get serious help, hoping that she'll find peace.
