In the first act, Carl Danvers joins the Air Force, intending to be a pilot and to get a college degree via the military. While traveling across the country, he witnesses an aircraft crashing n the desserts. He manages to save Captain Mar-Vell, an alien Kree hero, then she exposes him to the cosmic energy before she dies, and he wakes up at a hospital. After recovering, he discovered that he has cosmic powers, flight, superhuman strength, durability, regenerative healing, and he can absorb energy. He decides to use her powers to fight crime as a superhero, known as Captain Marvel (after Mar-Vell)
