Story Plot

"Mania" is a horror-thriller movie directed by Mimi Cave, the creator of the cult classic "Fresh". The film stars Rami Malek and Anya-Taylor Joy, who reunite after playing evil Nazi husband and wife in "Amsterdam". The movie is a part of Cave's unofficial "Satanic Love trilogy" and is a follow-up to her debut film "Fresh". The story follows Simon, a young nurse who is tired of the usual dating scene and decides to focus on being single. However, he soon meets a mysterious and beautiful woman named Elena, played by Anya-Taylor Joy. Simon is charmed by her and the two begin to date, but as their relationship progresses, Simon discovers that Elena has a dark and messed-up past that he was not aware of. This realization makes Simon question if he has made a mistake jumping into a relationship with her. The film is inspired by real-life Yandere cases, such as Yuka Takaoka and Jodi Arias, and takes cues from films such as "Audition", "Decision to Leave", "Vertigo", "Fear" and "The Loved Ones". The movie explores themes of mad love, dark secrets, obsession, unusual fetishes and appetites, and is a continuation of the dark Satanist organization that the cannibal chef Brendan from "Fresh" was a part of. The film is a blend of horror, suspense, and thriller, with a twist of romance, and is set to leave audiences on the edge of their seats.
